Sleeping is such an importan thing that I cannot understand how people ignore it. It can seem for lots of teenangers that sleeping is a waste of their time, but it isn't. Actually, no sleeping leds to depression. But people, and specialy teens ignore it. They have so much to do, that sleeping rest importance.
In my opinion, video games take away lots of sleeping hours. There should be something advicing them of what they are causing to their bodys. Anyway, they are not going to realice of its importance till something serious happen.
I totally agree with Estibaliz. From my point of view sleeping well is essential to work during the day. However, I don't do it as much as I should. I reckon that the main cause for the sleep deprive is that there are too many things to do and we don´t give sleeping the importance it has.
During the week we spend the day in class or doing homeworks and studying and as the only time we have to rest is at night we use our time to play computer games or just chat with the movile phone. Of course, the more time we spend with the movile phone or computer, the less time we sleep. So, it is a matter of preferences.
In conclusion, in my opinion we should be aware of the importance of sleeping and give more importance to it.
Teenagers realise that they are not getting enough sleep. What they don't relise about is that their brain or other organs are not working well and this can cause problems in many ways. That's why we should sleep nine hours instead of sleeping six or seven. To achive these nine hours it is essential to rest importance to computer games or to any type technology.
As Ana has said, we spend a lot of time at school and studying at home and when we finish we only think about taking the mobile phone and chatting or playing with friends until late in the night. The next day we have to wake up really early and we need to be active to pay attention in class. With six hours of sleep everyday a person is not able to get all the information in class and this is going to affect their school grades.
Finally, from my point of view there are many people that don't sleep as much as it is necessary and that must be changed.
Like most of teenagers, I do not sleep as much as I should, but I sleep quite enough to spend a normal day well. It is true that with mobile phones, computers and that type of things, we rest importance to sleep, but in my opinion, one of the problems is that they do not teach us how important is, to sleep well, since we are little, so we see it like another simple thing that we have to do without importance. If we spend some days sleeping no more than 6 or 8 hours, we do not spend it as if we had slept the properly hours, instead we prefer staying late with friends or watching tv. To sum up, we should treat this topic with the importance it has and not like we treat it.
Before reading this I knew about the importance of sleeping because my mom studied medicine so she is always telling me that my school performance is better if I sleep well. However, I am concious that during the school year I don't sleep enough. l am part of the 52% of the teenagers that stays up late playing games, chating or studying for his next exam instead of sleeping.
In conclusion, we all need to give more importance to the hours we sleep but especially teenagers because we are learning things everyday and we need our short term memory to do its best.
